What is the mission of Compassion for Others (CFO Ministries)?
Compassion for Others' mission is to help improve the quality of life for the disadvantaged and those in need. Our purpose was founded upon biblical scripture of Matthew 22:37-40. In this passage of scripture we are instructed, first, to love the Lord and then, to love our neighbor as we do ourselves. Our lives should reflect the love of Christ, who lives in the hearts of every believer.
Is Compassion for Others (CFO Ministries) a church organization?
Our Board members, the Director and those volunteering to serve with Compassion for Others attend various churches and places of worship in the community. We each believe in the importance of the mission and our purpose. Donation gifts to CFO Ministries provide funding for projects of this ministry and are tax-deductible as permitted by law. CFO Ministries is registered with the IRS as a 501c3 nonprofit. Financial information and a copy of the license are available from the NC Secretary of State Office.
How can I support and participate in the work of Compassion for Others?
- First, and foremost, we desire your prayers for the work of this ministry. Please, pray specifically that God will direct and lead us as we work to serve various needs. Please pray also that as we serve it will always be for His glory.
- Secondly, you may volunteer and serve with us at different events. Please contact us about opportunities to serve with CFO Ministries.
- Thirdly, you may participate with us through your financial giving to support the work of this ministry. Your donation gifts will serve the various projects of CFO Ministries to help those in need. Donations to CFO Ministries may be monetary or you may choose to give an in-kind gift for a specific event. We will be so grateful for your support with us. What is Compassion4Ukraine?
In March of 2022, Compassion for Others began an arm of this ministry dedicated to help serve the needs of our "neighbors" in Ukraine. Those we are serving are the refugees and those who have been displaced from homes because of the war and invasion in Ukraine. Our effort are humanitarian and will provide support to these through boots-on-the-ground organizations CFO Ministries has vetted. Those organizations are in Ukraine, Poland and Romania. Activities planned during 2024
- Our 11th Annual Back-to-School Event will be this August for children living at the Children's Home in Concord, NC. Would you like to help CFO prepare for this event? This will be a great day!
- Periodically, we visit families who are in need. Do you enjoy sharing a loving heart and praying with those who need encouragement?
- There are so many needs in the entire world. Please continue to pray for the work of Compassion for Others to help the Ukrainian refugees.
Activities in 2023
- Our 10th Annual Back-to-School Event for children at the Children’s Home in Concord, NC, was a great success because of you! The day began by shooting hoops with them in the campus gymnasium. Then, lunch was provided by our friends at PDQ. And, later children tossed water balloons with our CFO volunteers, smaller children played in the bouncy house, they created bead jewelry and did fingernail painting. We always enjoy spending time with every child to let them know they are each loved. During our time with them each child is given an envelope from Compassion for Others that provides fun things to do off campus. Thanks to you this envelope included a gift card to go shopping at Kohl's for new school clothes. All of the children are excited to see the different opportunities that are made possible for them. Thank you to each of you who participated with CFO Ministries through donation support and by volunteering that day . You are making a difference!!
- CFO provided help to the refugees in Ukraine and others who were displaced from their homes because of the war in Ukraine. CFO provided direct support through our vetted sources in Ukraine, Poland and Romania who are helping these with food, clothing, housing and life essentials.
- CFO received a large provision of food donated by a local grocer. Items were then shared in many ways. Food items were given to services providing assistance in low-income areas, teachers in our community schools, after-school programs, to our first-responders and supported several food pantries.
- CFO provided a family that resettled to the US from Afghanistan with food needs.
- In December, CFO Ministries provided help to six families in our community, each with different needs and experiencing difficult circumstances.
Activities during 2022
- CFO Ministries held our 9th Annual Back-to-School event to help children at the Children's Home in Concord, NC to prepare them with clothing needs for their return to school. Cottages where the children live were also provided with expressed needs.
- CFO for our 2nd year held a Cookie Distribution to the 46 K-5th grade school teachers at Carl A. Furr Elementary School to welcome back the 750+ students on their 1st day of school with Oreo cookies. This school is a Title 1 school located in Cabarrus County, NC
- Established the "Falcons-in-Need" program at Carl Furr Elementary School that will help students in need
- Assisted a local family whose home was severely damaged by fire
- In March, CFO established the mission arm "Compassion4Ukraine" to help Ukrainian refugees and those displaced due to the war with essential needs
- CFO is now serving with three vetted organizations in Ukraine, Poland and Romania by helping to provide needs of refugees and those displaced due to the war in Ukraine
- In December, CFO Ministries served 27 families within our local community. CFO provided food, clothing and essential items to needy families and to help relieve them of the financial burden associated with the purchase of those needs.
Activities in 2021
- 8th Annual Back-to-School Event was held in August for 31 children living at the Children's Home in Concord, NC
- School teachers at Carl A. Furr Elementary (a Title I school) were provided with Oreo cookies to "Welcome Back" their returning students (kindergarten through 5th grade)
- Delivery of nearly 500 boxes of snack items to local first-responders (Fire, Police and Medical) in Cabarrus and Mecklenburg counties to show appreciation for their service to others and dedication to duty. This was made possible by the generous donation and partnership by a local grocer.
- In December, CFO Ministries blessed twenty-eight families in the local community with food, clothing, hygiene and household needs.
Activities in 2020
- CFO coordinated with a sister agency during the pandemic to provide food and financial needs to resident families in our local community.
- Helped with clothing items for a local agency "Free Store" to serve those having needs.
- CFO held the 7th Annual Back-to-School Event in August for twenty-six children living at the NC Church of God Children's Home
- In December, CFO provided assistance to more than twenty families identified in our local area with essential items needed to sustain daily life.
- Provided grocery gift cards to widows identified to CFO and having needs.
- Equipped cottages at a children's group home with essential daily needs to care for their children. CFO also provided each child a Walmart gift card and a warm cuddly blanket.
